The Burrillville Animal Control Shelter is located on Clear River Road which runs off of Broncos Highway (Rt 102) in the village of Oakland.

Animal Control officers are available to perform the following services:
n Return stray animals to their owners
n Place unclaimed animals up for adoption
n Enforce local animal control ordinances and state animal care regulations
n Educate and provide referrals to the public
n Assist residents in advertising pets needing new homes via the internet

Adoption Policy: After meeting the pet you would like to adopt, the ACO or a volunteer will perform a brief screening. Depending on the status of the pet you are choosing (i.e. vaccinations, spay/neuter, etc.) the Shelter requires that you leave a deposit at the veterinarian of your choice for rabies vaccines and spay/neuter costs. Upon returning to the shelter with the pre-paid receipt, the chosen pet will be released in your custody after completing the adoption paperwork.

Volunteers: The Shelter is always in need of volunteers to assist in the care of animals. Please contact the shelter for further information on becoming a volunteer. The Shelter also provides work for those who are mandated to perform community service.

Donations: Pet supplies and money donations are always accepted.

The Town of Burrillville requires that all dogs are to be on a leash and in control of the owner at all times. Violators will be fined $10 for a first violation, and the fine increases with each subsequent violation.
