Relative to preliminary consideration and discussion of the 2007/2008 fiscal year budget and budget process.
Councilor Margaret L. Dudley explained that she had requested a workshop with the Budget Board early in the budget process to address the matter of retired police vehicles. Specifically, she discussed the difference between trading in police vehicles toward new vehicles as opposed to turning police vehicles over to municipal employees. Arthur Hurley, Chairman of the Budget Board, noted that the Budget Board’s research indicates that paying mileage to employees when they use their vehicles for work-related travel may be preferable. This matter was generally discussed. It was noted that there would be further workshops for discussing budget matters.
VOTED to adjourn at 9:18 p.m.
Motion by Councilor Wallace F. Lees. Seconded by Councilor Norman C. Mainville. The motion was unanimous. Voting in favor of the motion were Council President Nancy F. Binns, Councilors Wallace F. Lees, Kevin M. Blais, Margaret L. Dudley, John M. Karmozyn, Jr., Norman C. Mainville and Cynthia L. Roe.
