PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
SPRING LAKE:
A new dock was purchased for the 2007 season.
SPRING LAKE CHAMPLIN RECREATION HALL:
A preliminary design has been completed for the consideration of heat and/or air conditioning of the Champlin Recreation Hall to allow for year round usage.
SPRING LAKE CAMPGROUND:
An Eagle Scout Canidate will be erecting an amphitheatre as an addition to the campground.
BRANCH RIVER TRACK:
The track resurfacing project was completed in 2007 due to a grant from the State of Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management with an appropriation of $26K and $26K of Town Funds as a match from the Town's Capital Improvement.
Track light repairs were funded in the Capital Improvement Plan and quotes received.
PARK AT SHIPPIE BRIDGE :
Thanks to the State of Rhode Island Department of Environmental Passive & Historic Park Grant received, a portion of land has been donated to the Town of Burrillville to aide in the construction of a new park near the historic Shippie Bridge. The park will include a grassy area with benches and plantings for all to enjoy, as well as benches for the fishing area. This project to be completed following the improvements to the bridge. Project design and implementation assistance by Eagle Scout Candidate Jeffrey Bowser.
COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER (BECKWITH-BRUCKSHAW LODGE):
Doors, as well as reshingling of the roof, are being proposed.
HAUSER MEMORIAL FIELD:
Plans for a grant to assist in the replacement of the playground at Hauser Memorial Field in the near future.
BRANCH RIVER PARK:
Courts need to be resurfaced at Branch River Park and is included for budgeting under the Capital Improvement Plan program as a match for State of Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management funds.
