Attention Burrillville Residents:
Spring Cleaning
In an attempt to keep Burrillville cleaner, the Burrillville Public Works Department started a public education campaign focused on recycling a little over one year ago. Residents were reminded that recycling is a mandatory program and the importance of recycling can not be emphasized enough.
Burrillville, along with all other communities in Rhode Island must recycle 40% of all solid waste generated by 2010. As a result of the recycling efforts, Burrillville is presently recycling 23% of all solid waste sent to the Central Landfill. As you can see from the numbers we still have a significant recycling goal to achieve.
Those residents who are recycling; sincere thanks you for your participation in the mandatory recycling program. Without your commitment and dedication to the program, we would not be one of the eleven communities in the state presently reaching the minimum mandatory goal of 20%.
The Burrillville Recycling Program is requesting your continued help in reaching our recycling goals. Recycling is everybody’s business and every resident should be concerned as to where their solid waste is going once it leaves their home.
Help spread the Recycling Buzz this Earth Day. Earth Day on April 22nd. Parents-talk to your children about recycling. Children-talk to your parents about recycling. Talk to your neighbors about recycling too. You can help this Earth Day by sponsoring a Neighborhood Cleanup. If you don’t keep your neighborhood clean, who will? Please keep Recycling in mind not just on your trash day…make recycling a priority everyday. Recycle at home, recycle at work. Only you can make the difference when it comes to the spending of your tax dollars.
For more information on becoming involved in recycling efforts or Earth Day activities, please contact the Department of Public Works at 568-4440 or the local Burrillville Lions Club.
