SET OUT:  Residents are asked to put their trash and recyclables curbside no more than 24 hours before and no later than 6:00 am on your scheduled collection day.  Containers must be placed no further than five (5) feet from the curb.

Trash:  Once a week, on your specified day, you may place your trash in bags or barrels on the curbside for collection.  Residents are permitted either five bags or barrels of refuse (weight limit is 35 lbs) and one bulky item per week  i.e., couch, chair, desk, rugs, carpets, household furniture, etc.  Carpets and rugs must be cut into 4-ft. lengths, rolled and stacked neatly at the curbside with the trash.  

APPLIANCES DO NOT FALL UNDER THIS CATEGORY.  PLEASE CALL COASTAL RECYCLING 1-800-266-3188 TO SCHEDULE A PICK UP.  THIS SERVICE IS FREE OF CHARGE.

Cardboard boxes used as garbage containers will be emptied out as garbage containers and not recycled.  Cardboard boxes will not be collected with the garbage.  Cardboard boxes that are not properly broken down will be left behind.  Residents disposing of cardboard boxes must cut the cardboard into 30-in.+/- squares and set aside with the recyclables in the green bin or bundled along side the green bin.  Cardboard not broken down into manageble 30-in+/-. squares will not be collected.

Recyclables:  Once a week, on your specified day (the same day as your trash collection), you may place your recyclables on the curbside for collection. Recyclables must be placed in the blue and/or green bin for collection. The blue bin is for glass bottles, cans, milk & juice cartons, and plastic bottles with the 1&2 symbol on the bottom.  The green bin is for newspapers, cardboard, and mixed papers. If you need additional or replacement bins, they may be purchased for $8.00 each at the Public Works Department.  All bottles and cans placed in the blue bins must be free of caps or lids.  Bottles and cans with caps and lids still in tact will be thrown away when they get to the recycling center in Johnston.

BULKY ITEMS MAY BE PLACED AT THE CURBSIDE UP TO 24 HOURS BEFORE THE COLLECTION DAY.
