Ideally, all yard waste should be composted. Compostable Material is any vegetative matter such as grass clippings, leaves, tree, shrub, and bush trimmings, tree branches, garden trimmings, plants, flowers, and any other plant material.
The Town of Burrillville does not collect compostable material at curbside. Compostable materials MUST NOT be placed at the curbside in trash bags or cans. If compostable material is found in bags or cans, IT WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
Residents may drop off their compostable materials at The Whipple Avenue Compost Facility during normal operating hours.
All brush and/or tree limbs must be LESS THAN FOUR (4) INCHES IN DIAMETER and cut to lengths NOT MORE THAN FIVE (5) FEET.
LOGS, STUMPS, CUT FIREWOOD, BOARD WOOD OR CONSTRUCTION WOOD IS NOT ACCEPTED AT THE WHIPPLE AVENUE COMPOST FACILITY. PLEASE DO NOT DUMP THESE ITEMS AT THIS FACILITY.
Leaves and other compostable material will be accepted loose or in paper bags. Materials in PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THIS SITE.
