Impact on Property Values

Proposed Power Plant

On July 18, 2016, Invenergy filed a supplemental response to the Town’s Data Request #1-19 which was “Please explain how Invenergy plans to deal with the impact of diminished property values in the neighborhood”. The response was a market impact analysis prepared by MaRous & Company, a consultant hired by Invenergy. Click here to read the MaRous study filed with the PUC in July. It's important to note that the "response" is not the Town's work product. This report is the answer provided by Invenergy and is subject to further investigation by the Town.

The Town of Burrillville has requested proposals for an independent advisory opinion on behalf of the Burrillville Assessor that renders an opinion as to a proposed power plant’s impact on property values in the Town of Burrillville and on the abutters. On Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m., the Town Council will meet in special session to award the bid for this service. The meeting will be in Council Chambers at the Town building and is, of course, open to the public.

The Town’s study was the basis for the Tax Assessor’s advisory opinion ordered by the Energy Facility Siting Board.
