Invenergy Claims...

Town Responds

Invenergy Claims:

Is Invenergy Being a Good Neighbor?

  • Executing a tax agreement with Burrillville does not mean Invenergy is a good neighbor – a good neighbor would provide adequate and timely information so that the Town can evaluate the impact of the proposed power plant.
  • The Town does not believe Invenergy has done this!

Is Invenergy Addressing our Concerns?

  • Invenergy’s inability to find a source of water to operate their power plant, despite having almost a year to do so, does not address the Burrillville’s concerns.
  • A last ditch solution by Invenergy to provide water to their plant that increases truck traffic and potentially impacts the safely and well-being of Burrillville and the other towns along the proposed truck route does not address our concerns.

Is Invenergy Creating Jobs and Lowering Rates?

  • Yes, there may be jobs created, but at what cost?  It is debatable whether or not Rhode Island’s electric rates will be lower and whatever the questionable benefit to Burrillville residents may be – it is nowhere near enough to offset the negatives, particularly to those living in proximity to the proposed power plant.
