Good & Welfare:
Stephen Mulcahey congratulated the Recreation Department for the success of the Family Fun Fair. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

Recreation Program Information:
Reviewed by Andrea Hall
• Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – Next packing session scheduled for August 10th in
preparation for the 2016-2017 school year.
• Green Festival – Map submitted to East Coast for Revisions. Signs put up. Only 2 vendors registered to
date.
• Parks and Rec Calendars/Newsletters/Website- August calendars distributed.
• Picnic in the Park– Picnic in the Park was a great success with 16 children in attendance. Kids had fun
listening to a story, eating popsicles, jumping rope and playing with snowballs. Next Picnic in the Park
scheduled for August 24th at Hero Park.
• Summer Mini- Camps – Art Camp had 11 participants. Basketball camp had 50 participants. Archery
camp cancelled. Still accepting registrations for multisport at the end of August.

• Sunshine Club–Next Sunshine Club meeting scheduled for August 15th to make 30 gifts. July meeting had
4 volunteers in attendance that made 30 birthday gifts.
Update on Hauser Lights:
-Firing up generator to test it in about a week. Football is already using the field, but do not need to use
the lights until the end of the month. DPW staff will be there the first few times needed to help with
training. DPW is currently working on building an enclosure for the generator.
Report on Brown House construction:
-Almost done. There is a small room that will serve as a museum, and we are currently looking for
donations to help create displays.
Report on Dog Park and Dog pound:
-Dog Pound – Sketches are now available to review. They will be presented to the commission at the
next meeting.
-Dog Park –We have draft rules to review for approval at the next meeting. Andrea drew ideas from other
rules from other dog parks as well as research online and suggestions from Animal Control.
Discussion on Dog Park Policy:
-See above
Review recent Emergency Fund allocation Report on Recreation:
-Removing from agenda
Expansion Plan:
-No new updates
Update on Spring Lake Operations:
-Things are going smoothly. Attendance is up from previous years. We might want to have our
September meeting there with Judy present to review how things are going.
Review and discuss Spring Lake policies
-Work in progress
