Recreation Program Information:

• Acrobats – Fall session begins on October 4th at the Lodge. Two new students have registered for
acrobats. Six students are participating in the current session. Session begins October 6th.
• Archery – Classes begin October 7th at the Lodge.
• Art Classes- First session begins October 12th at Steere Farm, February 1st at Levy and March 15th at
Callahan.
• Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – First bags were delivered on September 2nd. There is a total
of 26 children participating in the Program this year. Raffle was held at the Green Festival to benefit the
program. $196 was raised.
• Green Festival – Steady stream of attendees all day…estimated 500 people in attendance. New lawn
games (jenga, corn hole, and connect four) were a big hit.
• Dance Program – Fall session begins in October 6th at the Lodge. Jazz/Hiphop moved from Tuesdays
to Thursdays at 5pm.

• Facebook- Posted Fall Newsletter and Green Fest information.
• Fencing – Classes scheduled to resume in October at ATL.
• Forever Fit – Classes have resumed at the Lodge.
• Hula Hoop Classes – Hoop teacher is no longer offering classes as she has taken a new job and her
schedule no longer allows.
• Multi-Sport Classes- Classes begin the week of October 3rd at WLC, SFE and ATL.
• Parks and Rec Calendars/Newsletters/Website- September Calendars posted and Fall Program Flyers
were delivered.
• Picnic in the Park– Great turnout for Picnic in the Park at Hero Park! 22 children were in attendance and
participated in face painting, jump rope, story time, and a snowball fight.
• Safe Sitter – 8 students participated in the Safe Sitter Class.
• Summer Mini-Camps – Multisport Camp had 12 participants. Karate mini-camp had 6 participants.
• Sunshine Club– Next Sunshine Club meeting scheduled for September 19th. 6 volunteers attended the
August meeting to make 18 birthday gifts.
• Tap Dancing for Fun and Fitness- Email blast and facebook post sent to advertise new class. Flyers
posted around Town. New class started Wednesday, September 7th at 7:30 pm at the Lodge.
• Walk Fit and Live Active- New fall session scheduled to start on September 14th. Instructor of the
weight loss program will also be offering this Indoor Walk Fit and Live Active Program scheduled to start
on September 13th. Participants have been meeting on Saturdays to walk on the bike path, and will now
walk indoors at the Lodge.
Update on Hauser Lights:
-Generator is running with no issues. Enclosure built to house the generator.
Report on Brown House construction:
-Discussed window treatments and proposed 'historic' room.
Report on Dog Park and Dog pound:
-Recent changes have been made to the sketch plans
Discussion on Dog Park Policy:
-No comments on draft received.
Report on Recreation Expansion Plan :
-No new updates
Update on Spring Lake Operations:
-Was a successful year all around
-Revenues for concessions and boat rentals did well
-Beach staff did an excellent job over the summer
Review and discuss Spring Lake policies
-Discussed amendments to the policy including:
• No metal detectors

• No foul language
• restrictions on floating devices & use of dock
