How to Obtain Town Carts & Overflow Bags

If you are the owner a newly built home in the Town of Burrillville, you will be issued two 65 gallon Town owned carts at no charge- one for single stream recycling and one for solid waste.  Residents must bring or email proof of ownership and a driver's license to The Department of Public Works (DPW) prior to issuance of carts.  A $15 administrative charge will be assessed if the Town delivers the cart(s).  The Town will deliver no more than two carts per trip for the $15 charge.  No administrative charge will be assessed if the property owner/resident obtains the carts at the designated municipal location.

The DPW is located at:
200 Clear River Avenue
Oakland, RI 02858
401-568-4440 x 12
Regular Hours: Monday – Friday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm

If there has been a change of occupancy within a home, carts will already be located at the home.  Carts issued by the Town are the property of the Town and are not be removed from the property or addresses to which they are assigned/issued.  It is the responsibility of a new home owner to check to make sure both carts issued by the Town are on the premises prior to occupancy. Landlords are responsible for ensuring carts are available for renters or occupants for each dwelling unit.

Where do I get overflow bags?
Town approved “Overflow Bags” will be available to residents for those occasions when there is excess solid waste that will not fit in the cart.  Overflow Bags are $3.00 each and are sold in sleeves of five at Department of Public Works, Lawrence Brothers and IGA in Pascoag.  Overflow Bags must be placed next to the cart. Excess trash must be in a Town approved bag or it will not be collected.
