Volunteer in Burrillville

The Burrillville Town Council has established more than a dozen boards, commissions and committees comprised of resident volunteers.  Residents who serve on these boards and commissions generally cite two reasons for their involvement:  service to their communtiy and the opportunity to experience first-hand the workings of their local government.  Among the boards and commissions created by the town council are:

  • Board of Assessment Review
  • Budget Board
  • Conservation Commission
  • Housing Authority
  • Juvenile Hearing Board
  • Narcotics Guidance Council
  • Planning Board
  • Recreation Commission
  • Redevelopment Agency
  • Sewer Commission
  • Zoning Board

Current vacancies on boards and commissions are advertised and posted on the Town website. To receive these postings right in your email inbox, subscribe to news here.

Applications are always encouraged and are kept on file for a year.  When a vacancy occurs on any board, the applications are reviewed and interviews conducted by the Screening Subcommittee, to create the best possible match between resident and board.  The Subcommittee submits its recommendation to the full Town Council.  Subsequently, the Town Council appoints members of the Boards and Commissions.
