Is there any potential problem with using the water from Pascoag’s wells for process water at the plant?

The plan Invenergy/Clear River Energy Center is promoting would treat the water with carbon filters at the well site before it travels to the plant. In theory, the water should be free of contamination before it hits the power plant so both the air and water that is processed with well water should also be free of contamination. Environmental studies will be done and will be reviewed by DEM and possibly theh Department of Health to ensure that this treatment process will achieve the desired results.

Pascoag Utility District's wells 3 and 3A were drawing approximately 90 to 113 million gallons of water per year to provide water service to the village before they were shut down. CREC projects that they will use approximately 78 million gallons per year at peak usage estimates.
