Algonquin Compressor Station

Abandonment of Compressor Units
b

In an effort to ensure the noise associated with the Burrillville Compressor Station was reduced as much as possible, the Town of Burrillville first attempted to communicate directly with Algonquin (and Spectra). When the Town met resistance, the Town Council directed the Town’s Special Counsel to initiate FERC’s dispute resolution process with regard to Algonquin’s noise mitigation efforts. In addition, U.S. Representative Langevin wrote to FERC twice (in August and September 2017) on behalf of the Town.

In December 2017, Algonquin sought approval of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to abandon two compressor units.

Follow this link to read the summary of events that led to FERC's order approving the abandonment of the two units.
