Doesn’t the Town have the power to kill the plant by simply rejecting the tax agreement?
No. CRE does not need a tax agreement to build the plant. Two plants were recently built in New Hampshire without a tax agreement. Recently, the citizens of Oxford, Connecticut thought they had killed a proposed plant when they rejected a tax agreement, but that plant is now being built without a tax agreement. CRE is continuing to expend many millions on the proposed Burrillville plant, even though it has no tax agreement at this time.
