Chafee opposes CREC

Lincoln Chafee has joined the opposition to Invenergy's controversial energy plant proposal in Burrillville. Mr. Chafee commented on concerns with trucking water and the opposition of the people of Burrillville. According to the former Governor, his greatest objection is that the power plant would contribute more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Mr. Chafee advocates Canadian hydropower as an alternative energy source.

The town of Burrillville thanks Mr. Chafee for looking at this objectively and coming to the conclusion that our community - as well as 35 other cities and towns - came to once informed of the impact this power plant project will have in Northern RI, statewide and this region of New England.
