Old Business:
Report on Recreation Program Information
· Archery – Six participants have registered for the fall session. Classes begin
October 7th at the Lodge.
· Art Clas ses - Adult art classes are now offered on Wednesday evenings at the
Lodge for the month of October. Two students have registered. 20 students have
registered for the art classes at Steere Farm.
· Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – Working on a grant for the
Rhode Island Foundation to support the BWSP program. Next packing session
scheduled for November 30th. Taco shop fundraiser scheduled for December 15th.
Taco Shop to donate 10% of the day’s profits to the program. 30 students are
receiving the weekly bags of food. Schools continue to collect donations. Farmer’s
Market sponsored a documentary at the Assembly on November 10th and donated
all proceeds to the BWSP program. Over $400 was collected. Raffle for two rounds
of golf for two at Crystal Lake to be held at the Santa Event on December 10th.
Tickets are on sale at Parks and Rec and JSML. Flyers for golf raffle sent home with
students.
· Dance Program – Current students counts are as follows: tap -2, acrobats 3, jazz
-4.
· Facebook - Dance programs and multi-sport fall information was posted. Posted
Fall Newsletter and Green Fest information.
· Facebook- Posted info on Santa Calling Program, Photography Class, Healthier Fit
Lifestyle and BWSP fundraisers.
· Fencing – 9 students registered for fencing.
· Forever Fit – Average attendance for the month of October was 13 participants
per class.
· Healthier Fit Lifestyle- 6 participants have registered for the second fall session
which began in November.
· Holiday Card Contest- Winners were announced at the November 9th Council
meeting. Cards will be available for purchase at Parks and Recreation, L’il General
and Town Hall at the end of November.
· Parks and Rec Calendars/Newsletters/Website- November Calendars
posted and Fall Program Flyers were delivered.
· Multi-Sport Clas ses- Current Enrollment for all 3 schools is as follows: WLC 6,
ATL 14, SFE 17. Next session to resume in January.
· Photography Clas s – 6 students have registered. Class began November 7th at
BMS in room 116. It will be held for four weeks from 6:30-8:00pm.
· Santa at Stillwater –Signs to be put up this week. Flyers to go out the week of
11/28. Dunkin Donuts agreed to donate donuts and munchkins. Harrisville Fire
Department to put up the tree at the gazebo and bringing Santa by firetruck.
Pascoag Utility district to donate a “Blizzard Survival Basket”. Contacted Uncle
Ronnie’s to see if they would provide discounted hot chocolate again. Jesse Smith
Library has confirmed Cookie Making with Mrs. Claus as well as face painters. BHS
environmental students created holiday decorations from recycled items.
· Santa Calling – program scheduled for December 7th – 11 th. Deadline for
registration is December 2nd; 2 forms have been received to date and 2 Santas have
volunteered to make calls. Flyers regarding the program were sent home the week
of 10/31.
· Sunshine Club –Next Sunshine Club meeting scheduled for November 14th.
October meeting had 5 volunteers who made 25 gifts.
Update on Hauser Lights – Generator has run all season with no issues. It is now being shut down and prepared for storage.
Report on Brown House construction – Project is completed, except for the museum room
Report on Dog Park and Dog Pound – Package on project is being prepared for DEM. The rehab project for the Pound is being added as an alternate to the DPW facility project.
Report on Recreation Expansion Plan – Nothing new
Update on Spring Lake operations – The beach is now closed for the season. It did stay open later than usual for a Patriots football event in late October.
Review and discuss Spring Lake policies – The policies have been submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office and will be posted to the Parks & Recreation website.
