Will the power plant emit harmful air pollution?

Federal air emmissions standards do apply to this project. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is the state agency responsible to evaluate air emmissions data and to determine if those emmissions are in compliance with acceptable standards. DEM will provide an idependent decision to the Energy Facility Siting Board.

According to the company, the proposed Clear River Energy Center (CREC) plant will have the latest technology which should be beneficial to assuring good air quality. TheTown has hired its own air quality expert(s) so we can INDEPENDENTLY evaluate the information presented by CREC  and evaluated by DEM. Please follow this link to view the consultant's report on air quality issues.
