Municipal Court

The Burrillville Municipal Court was established by statute (Rhode Island General Laws, Chapter 45 Section 2 Subsection 49) in May 1999 by the Rhode Island legislature. Court sessions are held on the first and third Monday of each month occasional changes to accommodate holiday weeks, in the Municipal Court Room at the Burrillville Police station at 1477 Victory Highway, Burrillville Rhode Island. Prior to the establishment of the Municipal Court, all traffic offenses were adjudicated at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal Court located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The Town of Burrillville did not have a venue to adjudicate local Town Ordinance violations and relied on the 6th District Court located in Providence. The Burrillville Municipal Court is currently one of twenty one Municipal Courts located in the State of Rhode Island. The court's jurisdiction includes the Town of Burrillville zoning and ordinance matters, Animal Control violations and the RI Motor Vehicle Laws.
