Energy Projects in Burrillville

The Town of Burrillville is in the process of compiling and assessing a wide range of information on the proposed energy-related projects at Wallum Lake Road.

On September 22, 2016, the Burrillville Town Council adopted a resolution opposing the siting of Clear River Energy Center in Burrillville. Follow this link to view the resolution.

  • Construction projects are located at the Spectra/Algonquin compressor station site at the Wallum Lake Road facility. The stated purpose is to expand the pipeline capacity of the existing Algonquin Gas Transmission system. The Spectra Energy proposal’s licensing process began in 2016 and is expected to run through 2018.
  • In an application filed with the Energy Facilities Siting Board ( EFSB), Invenergy Thermal Development LLC ( Invenergy) seeks approval for another project on Wallum Lake Road. This proposal is to site and construct the Clear River Energy Center, a combined-cycle electric power generating facility and associated facilities structures. This proposal is the one now being considered and is proceeding through the licensing process.
  • National Grid submitted a Preliminary Presentation to the Energy Facility Siting Board related to the proposed Burrillville Interconnection project. Please follow this link to view National Grid's presentation.
