What does fracking have to do with the proposed power plant?

Nothing.  If built, the power plant will use natural gas as a source of its own operating power.

Don’t be misled into thinking because the some of the power plant opponents are calling the plant a “fracked gas fired plant”, that there will be fracking in Burrillville. Fracking occurs many, many miles away in states like West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

There will be no fracking operations locally, in Rhode Island or nearby states because a power plant may be built in Burrillville.
