Discussion:
R e p o r t o n R e c r ea t i o n P r o gra m I n f o rm a t i o n
-Art Classes- Next session starts at ATL on March 7th.
-Background checks – Requested annual background check from all instructors.
-Boot Camp – Bootcamp has 15 new participants in the last 2 weeks. Additional new
class added on Tuesday afternoons. Bootcamp has had 44 new participants join classes
in the last 3 months. Bootcamp had 768 participants for the month of August.
-Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – schools and JSML continue to collect
donations. We have received so much additional food that we are on our third month of
adding extra to the bags each week.
-Digital Photography 101 – New session starts March 5th at BMS.
-Easter Event- Cafeteria and fields booked for March 17 with a rain date of March 24.
Easter eggs and Easter bunny gifts have been ordered. Signs dropped off to have the
dates changed. Dunkin Donuts have agreed to donate hot chocolate, donuts, coffee and
muffins. Requested donations from Dave and Buster’s. Jesse Smith library has
confirmed their support of face painting, a craft, and providing the golden eggs. Press
info to go out within the next two weeks. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.
-Facebook/Newsletters/Website- Winter Newsletter, Annual Event Calendar and
February calendar posted
-Forever Fit – 12 participants in the month of January.
-Multisport – SFE has 11 participants. WLC has 14 participants. Next session at Levy
starts March 7th, Callahan starts January 24th, Steere Farm starts January 25th.
-Play to Learn – Currently there are 7 children and their parents participating.
-Sunshine Club– January meeting had 8 volunteers that made 27 gifts. Next meeting
scheduled for February 26th.

-Incorporate a walking trail around Swift property

-Motion made by Aaron Coutu to move item to start of meeting agenda, second by James
Alix, motion passes unopposed
-Discussed issues with field conditions
-Fields currently maintained by four part time town employees
-The Commission does not find reason to adjust the field & park usage fee schedule
-Mr Dick Peck, who initially brought this concern to the Town Council, was invited to our
meeting, but was not in attendance
-James Alix motions to send memo to Town Council with Recreation Commission's
findings, second by Aaron Coutu, motion passes unopposed
