Old Business
Recreation Program Information:
Reviewed by Andrea Hall
• Art Classes- Callahan started March 16th. A second session was added at Levy school beginning April 22nd. Art Workshop for adults and teens to be held March 19th at the Lodge.
• April Vacation Camp- Multi-Sport mini-camp is scheduled for April Vacation for the 19th, 20th, and 21st from 9am-12pm for ages 6-12 at the Callahan gym.
• Afterschool Basketball & Kickball – Next session starts April 6.
• Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – $200 donation received. Last packing session had 15 participants and 7 weeks of bags were packed. Order was picked up at Price Rite with no issues utilizing
the new card and account. Next two packing sessions planned for March 23 and April 18th . Raffle to benefit the BWSP to be held at the Easter Event. Raffle donations received from Paige Spink, Bayberry
Commons and Janeen Rawson.
• Dance Program – Jazz/Hiphop moved from Tuesdays to Thursdays.
• Earth Day Cleanup – Ordered giveaway items & T-shirts. Letter sent to Dunkin Donuts. Lions to contact Dunkin Donuts regarding donation of donuts, coffee and hot chocolate. Lions, Parks and Rec, and
conservation commission to pay for Bargain Buyer Ads. Flyers designed and printed. Will be distributed the week of March 28th. Next meeting scheduled for March 31st. Clean Up scheduled for April 23rd.
• Earth Day Recycling and Energy Conservation Poster Contest – Flyer created & printed. Will be distributed the week of March 28th. Ordered items for winner’s gift bags. Entries due by April 29th.
Awards Ceremony scheduled for May 17th.
• Earth Day Craft, Storytime and Poster Workshop – April 21st at the Jesse Smith Library from 10am-12pm. Kids can listen to and Earth Day story, participate in a craft, and work on a poster for the poster
contest. PUD staff and Town Recycling coordinator will be on hand to answer energy conservation and recycling questions.
• Easter Event –35 tickets have been sold to date. BPAC to provide bags for children to collect the eggs in.Jesse Smith Library to offer 25 golden eggs with coupons for a free book at the library. Easter Bunny
contacted. Signs are up. Breakfast tickets to go on sale the week of February 8th. Deadline to purchase tickets is March 14th. Jesse Smith Library to offer a craft and arrange face painting volunteers.
State raffle paperwork submitted. Raffle to benefit BWSP. Uncle Ronnie’s regarding food for breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Tickets on Sale for $6. Dave and Busters to donate play pack. Dunkin Donuts
to donate coffee and donuts. Easter Eggs and Baskets have been ordered. Ordered an additional 1,000 eggs this year as there seemed to be a shortage last year. Still in need of volunteers.
• Forever Fit – Average attendance for the month of February was 12.
• Hula Hoop Classes – Class has moved to Wednesdays at 5pm.
• Nutrition Classes/Weight Loss Classes- Classes to be moved to JSML beginning on March 16th. Participants will meet in a conference room and then utilize the bike path/pavilion for exercise.
• Parks and Rec Calendars/Newsletters/Website – March calendars and Spring newsletter distributed.
• Picnic in the Park– Working with the Jesse Smith Library to offer a new summer program where residents are encouraged to visit our new parks. One day each month during the summer residents are invited to
check out one of the new parks, listen to a story and participate playground games and activities with recreation department and library staff. June 29th (Stillwater Playground), July 27th (White Mill Park) and
August 24th (Hero Park). If it rains, Story Time will take place at the Jesse Smith Library
• Summer Programs – Week long mini-camps to be held at the Lodge during the summer: Archery, Karate, Hula Hoop and Art. Two weeks of Multi-Sport mini-camp will be held at Callahan. Basketball Camp will
be held at the Middle School.
• Sunshine Club– Next meeting scheduled for March 21st to make 18 Birthday gifts. Question regarding aged restrictions – typically 12, but left to the discretion of the instructors.
Recreation Center Expansion Feasibility Study:
-no new updates
Hauser Lights:
-Have generator and it is hooked up, lights just need to be hooked up and the fence has to be installed Brown House:
-The structure is fully constructed and is capped with a roof. Windows still need to be installed, but the porch is already installed. is up with a roof. Once it is fully enclosed in April, water can be hooked up.
Some site work needs to be done, such as installing a wall.Update on Champlin Hall Management Changes:
-nothing new
Dog Park:-
A presentation was made before the Council about where it would go (near the Animal Shelter) and how it would be placed on the property.  Three options presented: There would be a split space, one for larges and the other for small dogs, for all three plans. We may go after a grant to help to pay for it. At same meeting, the park at the middle school, the track is going to be brought up to RI Interscholastic League standards so it could be used for meets. This would bring the track itself up so all the races could be run there (includes a rubberized surface, starting legs on the two ends for sprints, and some space for field events. Bathrooms would be installed in the form of port-a-johns

How often are the ponds in town stocked? DEM stocks near the skate park (Class B), Shippee Bridge, Round Top (Class A), Little Roundtop (Class B), next to Brown and Sharp, Gun Club
