R e p o r t o n R e c r ea t i o n P r o gra m I n f o rm a t i o n
-Art Classes- Flyers went out to the schools this week.
-Boot Camp – There were 698 participants for the month of January and 14 new participants.
-Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – Applied for a grant to the Levy foundation for $5k to
be used to help fund the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program. Alashaun Cashmere
donated $250, and Arete Hair in Johnston held a food collection.
-Dance– Finalizing the dates and times with a target start date of March. Met with a new
instructor interested in bringing several new dance classes to Town including musical theatre,
intro to dance, cheer, lyrical, and also a “I can dance” program for students with special needs.
-Earth Day Clean Up – First meeting scheduled for February 12th. Dates changed on sign.
Working on flyer and ordering supplies.
-Easter Event – Supplies have been received. Dave and Busters to make a donation of gift
certificates to be raffled at the Event. Confirming menu and pricing with Uncle Ronnie’s.
Giveaways and eggs ordered.
-Facebook/Newsletters/Website- Posted art flyer and February calendar on website and
facebook. Posted digital photography classes and multi-sport. Posted Zumba flyer.
-Family Fair – Scheduled balloon artist from 11-1; pony rides from 1030-130. Max man booked.
Registrations and flyers to go out to prior participants as of March 1st.
-Forever Fit – Approximately 24 people have been attending.
-Rad Kids – Exploring a new program in conjunction with the school department called Rad
(Resisting Aggression Defensively) Kids. The purpose of the program is to teach elementaryaged
children how to make good decisions, and stay safe/healthy. Hoping to offer the program
afterschool for children ages 5-12 years old.
-Senior Meal Site – Met with Senior Meal site in Woonsocket. Waiting for further confirmation
that a quarterly Senior Lunch and Learn session would work in Town.
-Zumba – New flyer posted to try to encourage attendance as the numbers have been down.
Classes continue at the Lodge on Wednesday evenings.
