Minutes of March 11, 2019 Recreation Commission Regular meeting
-Motion to accept by James Alix

-Letter for disc golf sent requesting additional detail

-Welcome Joe Risho to the Recreation Commission
-James Alix discussed possibility of signage along Burrillville bike path to direct flow of traffic

Discussion:

-AAA Driver Improvement Program – looking into offering a safe driving program for
seniors at the Lodge in conjunction with AAA.
-Boot Camp – There were 653 participants for the month of February and 2 new participants.
-Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – Next packing session scheduled for 4/23.
Stuff the Bus fundraiser planned for 5/18 in conjunction with Dattco. Planning next packing session for mid-April.
-Earth Day Clean Up – Lion’s to purchase bags as KBVB will not be donating as much as in the past. Quadrants assigned. T-shirts and giveaways received. Dunkin Donuts
confirmed.
-Easter Event – Another successful egg hunt and breakfast! 110 people attended the breakfast and approximately 800 attended the Egg Hunt.
-Facebook/Newsletters/Website- AAA driver course and Radkids posted, Easter events pictures posted.
-Family Fair – To date 11 registration forms have been received. Working on scheduling food trucks. Invites and registration forms went out to prior participants and are available
online. Scheduled balloon artist from 11-1; pony rides from 1030-130. Max man booked.
-Forever Fit – Approximately 18 people have been attending. Numbers recently dropped due to weather conditions.
-Multi-Sport – Levy has 12 participants, SFE has 19.
-Rad Kids – Working in conjunction with the school department to offer the RAD kids personal empowerment program. Starting with SFE and WLC schools for a pilot program in May. Flyers sent home with students.
-Senior Lunch and Learn – First quarterly lunch and learn scheduled for May 7th at the Lodge. 4 “vendors” have been scheduled – The Town, PUD, RIPTA and Well One. RIPTA to bring a Flex Bus and offer a short tour of stops.
-Sunshine Club– Next meeting scheduled for April 22nd.

-Christopher Goody discussed possibility of directional signs on town walking paths

Burrillville Comprehensive Plan in Relation to Parks & Recreation
-State map listing Burrillville resources is outdated
-James Alix inquired as to Council priorities, Commission can engage Council to give attention to certain issues
-Councilman Raymond Trinque suggested inviting Ray Goff of Planning Division to our May meeting
-James Alix motioned to invite Ray Goff to our May meeting
-Second by Terrie Reis
-Motion passes unopposed
