-AAA Bike and Traffic Safety Event – Wednesday July 1st AAA will be offering a school
bus safety program for pre-k through 2nd grade at 9:30am at the pavilion. A pedestrian
and bike safety program will be held at 10:30am for kids in grades 4-8. AAA will offer
free helmet fitting for participants who bring their bike helmets.
-Adult Tap- There are 10 participants for adult tap.
-Blackstone in Bloom – Town took second place! $500 prize.
-Beckwith-Bruckshaw Lodge – Annual floor refinishing took place the week of July 1st.
-Boot Camp – There were 755 participants for the month of April.
-Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – To date, four families have signed up for the
summer program. Four additional families will receive the weekly bags during the ESY
program at BHS. A total of $711 was raised at the Family Fair via raffles, popcorn sales,
and donations.
-Facebook/Newsletters/Website- July calendar, Lodge closing and AAA program posted.
-Family Fair – Event was a huge success with approximately 1500 people participating.

-Forever Fit – Approximately 27 people have been attending.
-Safe Sitter – Class was a success and was filled to capacity with 10 participants.
-Self Defense Class – 14 people took the self defense class. Feedback was excellent.
-Senior Lunch and Learn – Next event scheduled for August 8th at Wrights Chicken
Farm. Working on obtaining raffle items and getting sponsors. PACE has agreed to pay
$250 towards the cost of the next luncheon. Reached out to Levy foundation regarding
grant opportunities to help fund future events. Reached out to 7 vendors for possible
sponsorship for the next Lunch and Learn Event.
-Senior Transportation Subcommittee- Next meeting scheduled for July 10th.
-Summer Camps- Multisport Summer Camp has 13 participants.
-Summer Meals Program- Summer Meals Program- Pawsox mascots will be present
for summer meals kickoff. Parks and rec volunteers to provide rock painting and face
painting activities during the first week at the new Pascoag location.
-Sunshine Club– Next meeting scheduled for July 22nd.
-Tree Planting from the RI Tree Council -The Town acquired sixteen free trees from the
RI Tree Council in May. The RI Tree Council is a non-profit citizens group dedicated to
improving Rhode Island’s tree resources. The Recreation Department along with the
Conservation Commission and the Lion’s Club planted all sixteen trees in June. Eight
trees were planted at Tarkiln Park, five at Hero Park, and three at Steere Farm School.
They are tiny, but will someday provide some much needed shade at these locations.

Spring Lake Beach – 2018 review, 2019 preview
-Discussed beach closures due to high bacteria levels
-Received inconsistent results from different testing facilities
-Future testing will go through Rhode Island Analytical
-Judy Lopez – Spring Lake Beach Manager – requested financial reports for 2018. She
was told requests need to be made to Mike Wood, Town Manager
-Aaron Coutu motions to request 2018 Spring Lake Beach financial report from Mike
Wood, Town Manager
