Eco Depot is this weekend on Saturday (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) Includes shredding event. At Whipple Depot
(Hazardous waste 8:00 – 10:00 pm)

Old Business
Recreation Program Information:
Reviewed by Andrea Hall
• Art Classes - reached out to art instructor regarding the possibility of offering some new classes such as
a family paint night.
• Bike Path – Poop stations and trash and recycling containers were added to the bike path.
• Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program – 30 boxes of macaroni and cheese were collected at the
Family Fair to benefit the backpack program. A total of $349 was raised in raffle ticket sales. 2 families
have continued to pick up the bags throughout the summer.
• Earth Day Cleanup – A total of 7.55 tons of litter was collected—that’s more than 3 tons over what we
collected last year!!
• Family Fair – The family fair was a success with approximately 2,000 people in attendance. Working on

changes to the layout for next year’s fair.
• Parks and Rec Calendars/Newsletters/Website- July calendars distributed.
• Picnic in the Park– First Picnic in the Park event was a success. We had about 20 people in attendance.
Wet weather forced us indoors at the JSML but everyone had a great time enjoying face painting, hula
hooping and a story. Next event scheduled for July 27th at White Mill Park.
• Pop into the Park- Working on a new program where rec staff pops into the park periodically throughout
the summer with games, activities, crafts and popsicles. Dates/times to be advertised via facebook as
staff schedules allow.
• Safe Sitter – Instructor had a conflict with original date. Class was rescheduled to August 18th from
8am -230pm at the Burrillville Middle School Media Center for students ages 11-14.
• Summer Mini- Camps – Karate had 6 participants, Multi-sport had 10, Hoop had 7. Still accepting
registrations for Archery, Art, Basketball, and the last week of Multi-sport.
• Sunshine Club–Next meeting scheduled for July 18th to make birthday gifts. June meeting made 27 gifts
and had 5 volunteers.
• Tap to Fitness – Met with instructor regarding a new fitness tap class to begin in September. Class
would be open to adults 18 years of age and older. Working out details regarding day/time.

Update on Spring Lake Operations:
-Great numbers this year, no issues. TV Land did a story on Spring Lake Beach
Review and discuss Spring Lake policies
-Will probably need to wait until after the conclusion of the season so Judy can really pull together how she
wants it written and the procedures that she wants are included.
