May 2017 Update

National Grid submitted a Preliminary Presentation to the Energy Facility Siting Board related to the proposed Burrillville Interconnection project. Please follow this link to view National Grid's presentation.

National Grid has notified Burrillville Town Officials that it is beginning a process of securing a right of way to construct the infrastructure to support the possible Invenergy project.

The Town has yet to fully vet the National Grid project and the Town Council will be taking a close look to ascertain the impact of this project on our community. There are several questions we have, including:

  • Why - when the plant hasn't even been approved -National Grid must start its work now?
  • Where will National Grid's power lines be located and what will the extent be of the impact on our forestland and nearby residences or property owners?
  • Does the Town have authority to prevent National Grid from moving forward?

National Grid is planning to start handing out informational leaflets to residents. Some of the questions are addressed in the leaflets. We ask that our engaged group of Burrillville residents immediately start looking at this information and forward to us your questions and suggestions.

National Grid is also planning a community meeting in Town to discuss the project.

National Grid cannot move forward. It must still go through several regulatory hurdles and intense scrutiny of the project. Be forewarned- this is another EFSB process, but we will do whatever we can to protect your interest.

National Grid will post information on their website set up for this project.

Documents filed with the Energy Facility Siting Board (EFSB) can be found online at the EFSB website.
